The last US Airways’ flight will be held on Friday.
(Mirror Daily, United States) – Philadelphia airport is preparing itself for US Airways’ final flight which is due to take place on Friday evening. This is the final flight that the company is holding before the US Airways becomes part of the American Airlines.
US Airways was founded in 1939 as one of the largest airlines in the United States. The company adopted its current name in the 1970s and has functioned under this denomination until it was officially taken over by the American Airlines on October 17, 2015.
The famous airline company does not want to go down in history without hosting one last commemorative flight. The event has already been scheduled for this Friday evening. According to the company’s declaration, Flight 1939 (named after its founding year) will start in Philadelphia and will continue in Charlotte, Phoenix and San Francisco.
The airline will host special events at stops in the major cities, such as, Philadelphia and San Francisco. Passengers will receive champagne toasts and they will most likely benefit of many surprises throughout the flight. The company estimates that the majority of the passengers, who have purchased a ticket are flight aficionados, who wish to be part of the company’s history.
American Airlines’ spokeswoman told reporters that the last flight was organized to celebrate the company and all the people who have helped build US Airways. The Friday flight was thought as a special event for both customers and employees, she further added.
There are but few large airline companies left as the majority of the small enterprises have been incorporated by larger ones. American, Delta, Southwest and United are the four major competitors on the American company, but economists don’t think this is necessarily a bad fact. Customers can still enjoy small prices, even though there aren’t many competitors left out there.
