Apple Wins the Hearts of Android Users with iPhone 6S • Mirror Daily

(Mirror Daily, United States) – In the end, it turns out Apple wins the hearts of Android users and not just those of hardcore fans. During Apple’s last earnings call, CEO Tim Cook claimed that Android consumers accounted for 30 percent of iPhone sales during that quarter.

Fortunately, it’s not just internal data that makes these claims; Consumer Intelligence Research Partner has backed up those figures, underscoring the tendency of Apple weakening the Android ecosystem. As reported by BGR, this study indicates that 26 percent of recent sales of the new smartphone iPhone 6S comes from no place else than migrating buyers abandoning the Android platform.

This data is in line with the reported sales of the iPhone 6S during the first month after launch – which, incidentally, is also one of the highest values ever recorded by the company. According to older data from last year, only 12 percent of iPhone 6 customers were coming from Android, but the rate started increasing with iPhone 5S – 23 percent worth of switch platforms.

Even though the release of the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus was expected to boost the monthly figures, market analysts noted this trend of switching from Android to iOS will continue to increase in the long-term trend in Apple’s favor.

Customers moving over to the other side are starting to worry Android manufacturers – and for good reason, seeing that more people with higher disposable incomes are becoming more willing to pay that extra bit for flagship devices.

Let’s look at Samsung, Apple’s nearest rival in terms of sales; while Apple was increasing its prices with the adding of the 6S family handsets, Samsung was seen cutting the prices of Apple’s counterparts, Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The sales of the South Korean firm have been stagnating among the flagship handsets, with growth only in the cheaper mid-range smartphones.

Once users start looking for high-end devices, Android stops being an option, as it looks. This trend could become a long-term problem for the Google-supported ecosystem. Attracting high-end Android users to iOS is a particularly lucrative business, bringing more revenue in third-party apps and games and physical peripherals.

The fact that more customers seem to prefer Apple is starting to weaken the value of the Android platform for Google, but app developers and manufacturers can also feel the burn. Seeing that advertisers are mostly interested in engaging with high-value consumers, Google’s profit from the advertising market could stand to lose some.
