Bill Nye has expressed his passion for fighting climate change.
(Mirror Daily, United States) – After bringing entertainment and knowledge to the lives of children, Bill Nye ‘The Science Guy’ is targeting global warming and becomes passionate about fixing our planet’s severest problem. For years, Nye has gathered a good portfolio for himself, including bringing extraordinary science into the life of ordinary people.
His achievements include the adoration of children he introduced into science, appearances on multiple TV series, and his iconic line of bow ties. However, before the showmanship and several acting gigs, Nye was a mechanical engineer passionate about science. That has not faded under the spotlights and flashes of cameras.
In an interview with the National Geographic, Nye voices out his fervent need to urge people into acting against climate change. If matters progress as they are now, the repercussions will be just as serious as a potential World War III. The answer is to just get started. The time for talk is over, and moving forward to renewable energy should be the immediate response.
However, Nye isn’t picky. Whichever it is, solar, geothermal, wind, tidal, it does not matter as long as it’s properly applied. The scientists stated that from an engineer’s standpoint, it’s very doable. All that is needed it to be placed in practice, along with the aid of both government organizations and the population.
For one, switching from cars to bicycles, especially in heavily polluted nations, such as China or India, could be one of the answers. But they should not be the only ones limited. A good quality of life should arrive for everyone, and it certainly is in everyone’s best interest in reducing the emission of greenhouse gasses. And we will all suffer the consequences otherwise.
Nye goes on to say that there is a “need” to eliminate “climate deniers”. There’s absolutely no doubt that us, as a community, should start chipping away at those erroneous beliefs. It all just comes down to the science. He doesn’t expected that he would be able to change people’s minds overnight, but perhaps with time, even climate deniers will be unable to say it’s not true.
After ample demonstrations, perhaps they will think differently.
The scientist claimed that the upcoming UN conference on climate change in Paris could be one of the starting points for a better world. Every country will detail their plan on combating global warming. If they succeed, it could be the event that will start it all and direct our planet toward a safer place.
It won’t change our world overnight, but it could be the turning point.
