Campo Santo Added a Free-Roaming Mode for Firewatch • Mirror Daily

The new free-roaming mode can be downloaded for free from Campo Santo’s website.

Firewatch’s developers have recently announced that a free-roaming mode is now available for the game.

Possibly one of the most ingenious Indie game, Firewatch has definitely managed to gain popularity among users who prefer story-driven games rather than mindless shooting and blasting.

Set in the Wyoming wilderness, Firewatch tells the story of Henry, a strong, silent type, who has left the city and his messy life in order to find peace among the trees. His job is to find smoke and to prevent wildfire.

Henry’s job seems more than idyllic until one day when something compels him to leave the safety of his fire watch tower and to venture into the wilderness. His only contact with the outside world is Delilah, Henry’s supervisor, who speaks with the character via radio.

Unlike most of its peers where the gamer is compelled to shoot his way in order to reach his objective, Firewatch relies heavy on suspense and the anxiety brought forth by loneliness. Your relationship with Delilah, and thus with the outside world, is an emotional merry-go-round, spanning from closure, all the way to denial.

Initially, Firewatch’s gameplay was objective-based – players had to investigate specific areas, gather clues, and solve puzzles in order to progress. However, for an open world game, Firewatch did not offer so much freedom of movement.

The developers sought a way to correct this aspect, and so they came up with a new patch that features a free-roaming mode. Players are now free to stroll through the Wyoming wilderness at their pleasure, admiring the scenery and observing wildlife.

In addition, with the game’s dynamic and hyper-realistic day-night cycle, players will enjoy even more the long hikes. There are no monsters or menacing figures in the forest, but you still need to find your way out. Ever thought about taking a midnight stroll through the woods?

With the new free-roaming mode you will now be able to do so without any penalties. Firewatch launched in early 2016 on PlayStation and PC. Since its arrival, it would be an understatement to say that the game did not deliver what it promised.

And with the free-roaming mode, players will also be able to experience the dreadful feeling of getting lost in the woods, without even a flashlight to light the way. The patch can be downloaded for free from Campo Santo’s website.

However, if you’re not interested in completing the story rather than roaming around, you can always deactivate your patch. Have fun at exploring, guys!
