Daredevil Couple Elon Musk and His Wife Go for a Wingwalk

The pictures were posted on Riley’s Instagram account.

Some say that life means little without a bit of risk here and there to remind us that we’re alive, so daredevil couple Elon Musk and his wife go for a wingwalk to experience that thrill for themselves. Known as an eccentric and innovative developer, Musk, the founder of companies such as Tesla Motors and SpaceX, seems to not let fear stand in the way.

Perhaps it’s an interesting business move to boast fearlessness in the face of danger or it’s just the usual Saturday for Musk and his wife, actress Talulah Riley, who posted pictures on her Instragram of their latest stunt. On August 8th, the couple took part in an adventure for thrill seekers that started in the 1920’s, often featured in acrobatic aerial performances.

There are two ways in which one can perform a wingwalk. First is for the stunt, performer or adrenaline junkie to walk on the tip of the wing in order to help steer the plane while it’s on the ground, essentially help with its direction.

The second option, is for the person to stand on the wings in mid-air, ideally on a biplane, which is precisely what the couple did with the help of Breitling Wingwalking, an aerobatic team in Hampshire, England. The daredevil couple posted pictures of themselves performing a wingwalk on top of a Boeing Stearman biplane, travelling at speeds of 130 miles per hour.

The cost for such an exciting experience is of $620 per person.

It seems that the regular Saturday night movie, dinner or stroll down the beach and through the park is far too boring for the couple, who have posted pictures and a video of their death-defying adventures. Not all comments expressed the excitement or praised them for their daring hobbies, instead cautioning both Musk and his wife or even scolding them for the unnecessary risk they’re taking by indulging in dangerous stunts.

However, that never seemed to stand in the way of Elon Musk, who has always set his eyes on ambitious heights, sometimes quite literally, as he stated his hopes of one day sending man on Mars. Other ambitions include building an electric car that can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2.8 seconds.

What could be left for debate is the fact that perhaps Musk’s dangerous stunts and general thrill-seeking behavior could lead to the worry of possible investors or business associates. And his health insurance provider might be busy reviewing the papers right about now.
