(Mirror Daily, United States) – The former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio has recently challenged the validity of former U.S. President Barack Obama’s birth certificate.
Arpaio claims the document is a “forgery” and urges the U.S. Congress to shift focus from the Russia investigation to a probe into this conspiracy theory.
The former lawman who is now running for a Senate seat told a local radio station that the Russia probe is not as urgent as an investigation into Obama’s birth certificate.
Arpaio is seemingly reviving a years-long conspiracy theory called the birther movement which claims that the former U.S. president was not born in the United states, and the White House forged a birth certificate to hide the reality.
“They’re too busy talking about Russia,”
Arpaio said about Congress in an interview with the WABC radio station.
He added that his team has new information on the case, so people should ready to hear more about the conspiracy theory. The former sheriff also said that he is not afraid about the reaction to his new claims and the revival of the birther movement.
Arapio Revives the Birther Conspiracy Theory
Arpaio said he doesn’t plan to back down on the issue even if it costs him the Senate elections. He is poised to prove to America that Obama’s birth certificate “is a forgery”.
In 2017, Arpaio was convicted after ignoring a judicial order to stop racially profiling Hispanic drivers in Maricopa County. He was sent to six months in jail, but President Trump pardoned him last summer.
Arpaio said that if he wins the Senate seat he’d propose new legislation to require presidential candidates to prove that their birthplace was the U.S.
Members of the birther movement have long doubted that the 44th President of the United States was U.S.-born even though the White House published his birth certificate which shows that he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii.
