Facebook Is Allegedly Testing a Dislike Button • Mirror Daily

Facebook is allegedly testing a new reaction system which might include a dislike button.

Thinking about using Facebook’s Messenger more often? Then you might have one more reason to get online and talk with your friends, family, and co-workers because Facebook has recently announced that it is testing a new series of emojis and reactions. Moreover, the company is even thinking about keeping the new reactions if the users like them.

What’s so special about Facebook adding new emojis and reaction? Well, as you know, for some time now, the company has been experimenting with new ways to make online chatting more engaging and fun. Perhaps this is the reason why Facebook decided to implement the reactions system in the first place.

Now, the reason why this piece of news if relevant is that the company also included a little dislike button. Remember the whole controversy surrounding the dislike feature in online chatting? Although tons of users requested that a dislike button should be added in conversations, the company decided that too much negativity can spoil the fun of connecting with other people.

Well, it would seem that after some time and careful consideration, Facebook has decided that it’s in everyone’s best interest to diversify the application’s means of conveying feelings. And so, Facebook has launched a series of seven new reactions which include a smiley face with two big hearts instead of eyes, a laughing figure, the wow emoji, a smiley with a tear in its left eye, an angry face, a thumbs up emoji, and of course the thumbs down/no way/dislike reaction.

However, the company has been reluctant about officially calling it the dislike button, and instead opting on naming it the no or thumbs down feature. A Facebook spokesperson declared that the seemingly dislike button was mainly created to be used in an online conference, more specifically in environments where the chat members are required to cast their vote.

Thus, it would be easier to see the participants’ opinion by counting the thumbs up and thumbs down emojis rather than counting the yes or no reactions.

The new series of reactions can be accessed by hovering your cursor over the small smiley face which appears in the conversation near each line.

So, what’s the next step? Will Facebook take the new emoji or we will finally have a dislike button? Apparently, Facebook takes user experience seriously, and, to this end, we might finally be seeing the elusive dislike button.
