Ford F-150 Will Offer CNG And Propane As Fuel Options • Mirror Daily

Ford is supposed to announce very good news today regarding its 2016 F-150 pickup truck with a 5-liter V-8 engine. The upcoming Ford F-150 will offer CNG and propane as fuel options, making it the first pickup to ever have such a property. And what better occasion to release the good news than the Alternative Clean Transportation Expo in Dallas?

“We surveyed customers likely to use natural gas or propane, and 72% told us they want to have these alternative-fuel capabilities available on F-150 with the 5-liter V8 engine,” said Jon Coleman, Sustainability and Technology Manager at Ford.

The new Ford truck can be pre-ordered starting this summer and it will be available for purchase in December, just in time to meet the Christmas present frenzy!

The future owners of the truck will have to go to a qualified vehicle modifier to get their special fuel tanks, fuel lines and fuel injectors installed on the Ford F-150, which will be the only car of its size compatible with these. As for the costs of these modifications, they will start from $7,500 and could go up to $9,500, making it quite expensive for car lovers out there.

“We expect the gaseous-fuel prep package will be even more popular than it was on the 2014 F-150 with the 3.7-liter V-6 engine,”, Coleman said. It is because the new model was built with new generation materials that weigh very little that it will have considerably more power than its predecessor.

The most attractive feature that the Ford F-150 has to offer, namely the ability to utilize Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and propane based fuels, will help owners become independent of the ever-changing prices of fuel.

While the price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel goes for an average $2.58 nationally, and diesel reaching $2.81 per gallon, the alternative of CNG is one worthy of taking into account. The price for a gallon of CNG averages around $2.11 per gallon, but in some parts of the US it can be found for the extremely low price of $1.

Being the first pickup truck of its tonnage to offer the possibility of alternative fueling, Ford F-150 will offer CNG and propane as fuel options and it has all the chances to be a success this winter, as it makes for a very good deal. With a 5-liter V8 engine and the possibility of using a much cheaper fuel, the Ford F-150 is a car we will be hearing a lot about in the months to come and long after that.
