(Mirror Daily, United States) – Developer Square Enix Montreal just announced a free expansion for Lara Croft GO called ‘The Shard of Life’ with a discounted price. This will both celebrate the holidays and offer fresh new puzzle to the mobile game. It seems Tomb Raider has had quite a year so far, and it’s not over yet.
Another movie was announced for 2017, and on the gaming market, it has also seen some news. The ‘Rise of the Tomb Rider’ recently launched to take gamers on a new set of adventure on both consoles and the PC. On mobiles, the developer launched Lara Croft GO on August 27th, and it has actually done an excellent job in view of the critics.
It’s not often that spin-off mobile games see success.
However, it seems Square Enix Montreal did it right, just like they did with Hitman GO. Lara Croft GO received mostly positive reviews, an 84% on Metacritic, and an 8.5/10 from IGN. According to the latter, it has “all the heart and spirit” of the original Tomb Raider. Most importantly, it’s the “product of a love for what the Tomb Raider series used to mean”, according to Destructoid.
The original game was out for $4.99, but in true spirit of the holidays, Square Enix Montreal lowered the price to $2.99 for a limited amount of time. That brings the cost down for a relatively expensive one for mobile games to one that could potentially draw even more gamers or fans of the franchise.
That allure has also been doubled by the game developer, announcing that they’re starting to roll out a new expansion, all with more content of puzzles to be explored. Called ‘The Shard of Life’, the expansion will add the ‘Cave of Fire’ as a new location. The 2.0 version of Lara Croft GO will add a whopping 26 new puzzles, two new artifacts, two new costumes, gems, and new monsters with a different gameplay mechanic.
Supposedly, this will change some of the mobile game’s dynamic. Which means the possibility of new experiences, not simply new content over the already existent game.
‘The Shard of Life’ will roll out for both Android and iOS devices, so it’s available for download on both the Google Play Store and iTunes App Store. And, for a limited amount of time that will likely last for the holidays, the original game along with the expansion will arrive at a discounted price.
