Today, a man has been apprehended by the California law enforcement officers on the charge of stabbing a man following a verbal altercation which took place on Friday outside the Simi Valley Mosque.
Police officers from Simi Valley, California has recently taken a 29-years old male into custody. The person, whom the police identified as being John Matteson, was charged with allegedly stabbing a worshipper outside the Simi Valley Mosque.
According to the eyewitness accounts, the event took place on Saturday, at around 11:15 pm. The witnesses said that around that same time, they’d heard a lot of commotion coming from the parking lot near the mosque.
The person who dialed the emergency line declared that he saw some people fighting in that particular parking lot. Minutes later, several police cars were dispatched to the parking lot.
The law enforcement officers who arrived on the scene declared that several people were brawling in the parking lot near the Simi Valley Mosque. After calming down the combatants, the officers discovered that one of them was badly bleeding.
The paramedics who arrived at the scene declared that the man was stabbed during the altercation, but his wound was not life-threatening. The man was taken to the local hospital where he received medical care. Doctors declared that the patient is in stable condition.
As for the identity of the person who stabbed the worshipper, the law enforcement authorities declared that a suspect is currently in custody and is being interviewed.
The person who was brought in for questioning is a 29-years old male from the same city by the name of John Matteson. According to eyewitness accounts, Matteson approached the worshipper in the parking lot.
Allegedly, after talking with him for a few minutes, the thing started to become tenser. During the verbal altercation, Matteson drew out his knife, stabbed the worshipper, and fled the scene before the authorities arrived.
According to the law enforcement officers, the man was apprehended later that day and posed no resistance. If the allegations prove to be true, the 29-years old male from Simi Valley might be convicted of a hate crime.
However, the police are reluctant of calling it a hate crime just yet. They still need to prove that Matteson was the one who stabbed the worshipper in the parking lot.
