A Mara Salvatrucha gang member has been arrested after stabbing two women and raping a 2-year-old child.
Hempstead authorities reported that a 31-year-old El Salvador immigrant and a member of the infamous Mara Salvatrucha gang had been arrested after stabbing two women and raping a 2-year-old infant. Tommy Vladim Alvarado-Ventura of Hempstead has been deported at least four times between 2006 and 2011. If he’s found guilty, the Mara Salvatrucha gang member might spend the remainder of his life in prison.
Thomas Krumpeter, the acting Police Commissioner of Nassau County, recently declared that he’s been with the force for 28 years and that he never witnessed such a gut-wrenching act of cruelty. According to court documents, it appears that Alvarado-Ventura committed the acts sometime between Tuesday evening and Wednesday. Some of the facts regarding the man’s deeds are still not clear.
Krumpeter declared that the culprit was staying in an apartment with a 2-year-old infant, probably hired by the child’s mother to babysit him. Sometime during Tuesday evening, Alvarado-Ventura left the apartment and went to a local bar for a couple of drinks.
The man’s interview revealed that the Mara Salvatrucha gang member had another reason to leave the child alone and head to the bar – to conduct a marijuana transaction. It appears that his client for the evening was a woman. The eyewitnesses reported seeing the man arguing with the woman inside the Hempstead bar. Alvarado-Ventura later stated that he could settle down on a payment and left abruptly.
He waited for the woman in the bar’s parking lot where he stabbed her in the chest. The woman was later discovered and rushed to the hospital, where she received treatment for her collapsed lung. It would appear that after stabbing the woman, Alvarado-Ventura returned to the apartment.
Authorities believe that upon his return, the man raped the infant, although this timeline has not been yet confirmed. At approximately 4:15 am, the child’s mother returned home. Seeing that her child had several injuries, the woman confronted the Mara Salvatrucha gang member. Alvarado-Ventura got angry, pulled out his knife, and stabbed the woman.
The Hempstead PD said that the woman managed to escape by fleeing to another area of the house where she used her cellphone to call the police. According to Krumpeter, when the authorities arrived, they’ve found Alvarado-Venture taking a nap on the couch.
The Mara Salvatrucha gang member was arrested and charged with attempted murder, weapon possession, and assault. If he’s found guilty, he might spend the rest of his days behind bars.
