Nintendo Switch Allegedly Melts When Placed in Docked Mode • Mirror Daily

Several Nintendo Switch owners reported that their consoles got damaged when kept in docked mode.

Since the Nintendo Switch was first launched at the beginning of 2017, it shortly began to stand in front of the crowd for being one the most powerful portable consoles in the world. More than likely, most people who went ahead and bought Nintendo’s newest console did because of Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. However, even though Nintendo’s innovation was a smash hit, doesn’t mean that it’s perfect.

According to several Reddit posts, some of the customers who bought the Switch console complained about the device’s chassis getting warped when it is in docked mode. Although these rumors have not been confirmed by Nintendo, it would seem that the idea of the Switch having an engineering flaw becomes a painful reality as the day goes by.

Recently, a Nintendo Switch owner posted a picture on Reddit saying he found his console bent after he kept it in the docked mode. As you know, most portable consoles and devices, such as smartphones and tablets, have a hard time keeping tabs on the temperature.

If you are an Android user and played games such as Pokemon Go, then you surely know by now that during gameplay, the device gets awfully hot. The same problem seems to affect some Nintendo Switch consoles.

According to this Reddit post, right after the owner removed the device from its docked mode, he observed that the console had a slight curvature. Naturally, he also mentioned that the device ran awfully hot during gameplay.

Regrettably, it would appear that he isn’t the only one having problems with Switch’s thermal policies. After reviewing the user’s post, several other people replied that after looking closely at their consoles, they’ve’ discovered the same peculiar curvature. Furthermore, they’ve reported that this happened after the console was switched to the docked mode.

Could this be a major Nintendo design flaw or just an isolated incident? At the moment, it would seem that the company has decided to maintain radio silence. As for the user whose console was damaged after spending time in docked mode, he decided to ship back the allegedly defective unit, in the hopes that it would either be repaired or his data transferred to a brand new device.

So, if you are the proud owner of a Nintendo Switch console, in light of the recent events, it would be a good idea to keep an eye on the device’s temperature especially when it’s in the docked mode.
