Bethesda announced the release of Skyrim VR
(Mirror Daily, United States) – Bethesda held the fans in suspense by keeping what was best until the very end. While making no mention to it during its own press conference at E3, the company made a special appearance on Sony’s showcase and announced Skyrim VR as an exclusive for PlayStation. Fans won’t have to wait long, as it is set for release later this year.
The release date is still unknown
Bethesda indicated that the game might be released in November this year, but no official date was made public. In 2011, on November 11th, the original Skyrim game was released. Now, we might think that the company wants to celebrate its six years of existence in a memorable way by launching the VR version in the same way.
Unfortunately, Bethesda wasn’t that generous with the details, so the release date remains a mystery. However, as the time comes, they will reveal more on the subject and we’ll see if they reach our expectations or not.
Skyrim VR comes as a PS exclusive
When it comes to the platforms where Skyrim VR will be available, the game comes as a PlayStation exclusive. Or at least this is the case at the beginning. Since Bethesda announced it during the Sony conference, it was clear that it would initially come as a title available only on PSVR. However, the company might develop other versions as well, but nothing is official yet.
In terms of gameplay, the trailer prepares us for battles with giant spiders, dragons, or skeleton warriors, and amazing first-person combats. The VR version brings the original Skyrim from 2011, as well as some additional content, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn.
However, don’t expect the original part to be identical. VR requires certain changing in the aspect and mechanics of a game, so the experience will be entirely different. Until the official release, keep training with the original Skyrim and get ready for the VR experience.
