Starbound will take you into wondrous, exotic locations that are beautifully rendered in pixels.
(Mirror Daily, United States) – After spending a few years in Early Access mode on Steam, Starbound will be launched soon. Chucklefish announced on the game’s official website that Starbound will be launched soon. They only need to finish the 1.0 update and then the two-dimensional Sci-fi game will be available to all who wish to explore it.
“So Starbound’s next update is the big 1.0, and it’s getting close, so I wanted to update everyone on where things are and what to expect. Leaving Early Access doesn’t mean the end of updates for Starbound by any means, instead it will mark a shift away from engine work and towards additional content creation.”
This announcement was made on the games official website. It seems that finally Chucklefish managed to complete its engine works and is ready to launch its long-awaited project.
If you’re one of the many people, who saw Starbound on Steam and decided to wait until it leaves Early Access and it becomes available to be played fully, then here is a quick look at the plot and overall characteristics.
In the game, you are a training Protector of the Terrene Protectorate organization. As the name suggests, the organization is set on maintaining peace in all the universe. The game begins at the moment in which you graduate your training, and you are sent to fulfill your mission as Protector.
There are eight total missions that take place in exotic locations like sunken libraries, mining facilities, and ancient temples. In order to unlock the main missions, you will have to complete a set of quests that force you to use the Starbound sandbox.
Clues are of paramount importance in the game, and you will find them by either talking to local folk, visiting different towns, building colonies, exploring dungeons and, of course, completing the required quests.
As tradition dictates, at the end of every main mission, there will be a boss waiting to fight with you. After you defeat the boss, you will meet new characters that will help you advance in the game.
The 1.0 update separates story/mission progression, ship, colony, and armor progression. Obviously, the missions will gradually increase in difficulty while the player progresses, but the gamer decides how to tackle weapons, items, and gears.
Starbound will be launched soon, so if you’re a fan of two-dimensional pixelated adventure games, then you should keep an eye out for the release date.
