The Texas teen who claimed she was raped by three African-American citizens last month said that she staged the whole thing.
According to a recent press statement, the Denison County Police Department revealed that Breana Talbott, the 18-year-old who claimed that she was abducted and raped by three African-American citizens wearing ski masks, came out clean and said it was a hoax. Talbott stated that she invented the whole story and that the wounds on her were self-inflicted. The teen was charged with filing a false police report.
For those of you who are not familiar with Talbott’s case, here are the key facts. Earlier this month, on the 8th of March, a young woman barged into a Denison church. According to eyewitness accounts, the young woman was smeared with blood and was only wearing underwear, a bra, and a simple white shirt. She also had multiple cuts on her arms and legs, and a couple of wound marks consistent with scratching.
After the police had interviewed the Texas teen, they’ve found out that she was abducted by three African-American citizens wearing ski masks, dragged to a heavily wooded area, and sexually assaulted. Moreover, it seemed that her story was also corroborated by the fact that her fiancé reported her disappearance at 5:30 pm, the same day.
The authorities said that the man became alarmed after discovering Talbott’s car empty near the apartment they were living. According to the teen’s fiancé, the car’s door was ajar, and the key was left in the ignition. Moreover, after combing the area near the vehicle, the investigators found Talbott’s cellular phone and the keys to her apartment.
After interviewing the Texas teen, the authorities began a thorough search of the wooded area where the alleged rape took place. Investigators recovered some tattered clothes and a couple of items belonging to the victim.
However, Lieutenant Mike Eppler of the Denison Police Department and his colleagues believed that there was something amiss right from the very beginning. As Eppler pointed out, the Texas teen’s medical examination did not reveal any signs of sexual assault. In addition, it would seem that some of the evidence recovered from the scene did not match Talbott’s testimony.
And now, on Tuesday, the Texas teen confessed that she made up the whole story – staged the crime scene and self-inflicted the wounds. Eppler declared that the woman might be charged with filing a false police report. Meanwhile, the authorities are still trying to make reparations among the African-American community, who had much to suffer due to teen’s false allegations.
