Lady Gaga has completely changed beauty standards proving that physical defects can be beautiful.
(Mirror Daily, United States) – Scientists have discovered what it takes to be beautiful and it isn’t a magic potion that could be sold in a bottle. As a matter of fact, there are very few tricks that women and men may resort to to appear more beautiful in the eyes of the beholder.
Physical appearances seem to govern all social relationships as increasingly more people pay attention to such aspects. Scientists, on the other hand, come to dismantle all our previous beliefs on beauty standards and to explain what it takes to be beautiful.
The beauty recipe was discovered after researchers have gathered the opinion of 35,000 visitors on the website ‘Train My Brain’. In addition, they have looked at the DNA samples of 547 sets of identical twins and 214 sets of non-identical twins.
The research has proven that two identical individuals will never be regarded as beautiful by people around them; thus, proving that it is not genetics that matter, but rather the social environment. The same conclusion was reached after investigators looked at the facial preferences of 102 female and 98 men participants.
People’s perception of beauty standards is so subjective that two individuals will rarely share the same opinion on the topic. The study indicates that two persons will agree in 48 percent cases and disagree in 52 percent occasions.
The data collected during the experiment has proven that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and that very few people will consider one person to be equally beautiful. According to scientists, there are certain genetic standards that people use when comparing the facial and physical traits of various persons. These are usually taken into consideration by fashion designers, but regular people use other criteria when it comes to judging people’s appearances.
Researchers think people rely on social environment and past experience when deciding whether a person is beautiful or not. They usually think of the dearest ones and possible physical resemblances with first loves, scientists have explained. So, you don’t have to worry if a person thinks you’re not attractive enough. Remember: he’s probably too hung up on his ex.
