Halo, Borderlands, Assassin’s Creed and Fallout are all franchises that are still attracting fans.
(Mirror Daily, United States) – The backwards compatibility feature is bringing older video games back to the fan’s attention. This month, Xbox One brings three more old games to the demanding gaming community. King of Fighters, Halo Wars and Soul Calibur will be now available on the console.
There has been quite a demand for video games that were compatible with the old Xbox 360. Fans of the console updated their device, but not their gaming preferences. And let’s be honest, some titles, like Borderlands, Fallout, Hallo and Assassin Creed will always be appealing to the gaming community.
The backwards compatibility feature brought over 100 old games back into the spotlight last November when Microsoft released an update that changed the interface of the Xbox One. Now, when you fire up your Xbox it looks a lot like Windows 10 (so if you haven’t gotten a chance to upgrade your computer, or if you’re not convinced of the benefits that the new OS brings, just play around on your Xbox for a while, see if you like what you see).
When the backwards compatibility feature was first released, it came with major titles like Assassin’s Creed 2, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Gears of War and Borderlands.
Ever since the November update, the company has been periodically releasing more and more older games via the backwards compatibility feature. And they did it because they saw that fans are interested in replaying their favorite games.
According to Microsoft, as of the 1st of March, Xbox One users played over 30 million hours of games that were compatible with previous generation consoles. The backwards compatibility mode is free for every Xbox owner, and it works with games in various formats.
Even if you own a compatible digital game, you will receive a “Ready to Install” message when you insert the disc in your gaming device. Also, all games on physical copies can be downloaded and stored on the hard drive.
Furthermore, new Xbox features like screenshots, Game DVR, Windows streaming and multiplayer mode can be used with the older games.
And the good news keeps on rolling. Thanks to this month’s software update, you can buy any Xbox 360 compatible games that you didn’t manage to buy when they first rolled out.
Xbox One brings three more old games to the backwards compatibility program as of this week. The complete list can be consulted here.
